Oshawa electoral district

Welcome to the web site for the Oshawa Conservative Electoral District Association. Ridings Associations or Electoral District Associations (EDAs), as they are known these days, are as old as Parliamentary democracy and form an integral part of Canada's electoral system.

Managed entirely by volunteers, our Association is responsible for nominating our Party’s candidate prior to an election and working to get our candidate elected. The Association fosters the growth of our Party across Oshawa, participates in the creation of national Party policies, and supports our candidate/party through fundraising and other events.

Our Association was founded in autumn 2003 and has been reconstituted twice (in 2004 and 2013) owing to the redistribution of Canada's federal electoral districts, which occurs every 10 years after each national census. The most recent redistribution of seats went into effect in April 2024. Oshawa’s current riding boundaries remain unchanged.

The Oshawa federal electoral district consists of that part of the Regional Municipality of Durham comprised of the portion of the City of Oshawa which lies south of Taunton Rd W and Taunton Rd E between the eastern border of Whitby in the western border of Clarington. (At the present time, Oshawa's provincial riding boundaries identically mirror the federal boundaries).

In the Conservative Party, specialized committees reporting to a Board of Directors direct the business of each Association. The members of our Association elect a Board at our Annual General Meeting. In turn, our Board elects the officers of the Association.

The President is the chief spokesperson for our Board between elections, chairs all meetings of the Board, and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Association. Committees are composed of members of the Board as well as interested members of our Party or volunteers.

We are extremely proud of the work we've done since 2004, having supported Colin through 7 hard-fought federal general elections.

We encourage your involvement in the Association's efforts and our next campaign...which could come at any time.
